When Thomas finished his undergraduate work at the University of California Santa Barbara, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, he entered the field of educational services as the Associate Director of Learning at a private school in Santa Barbara. There, he designed curriculum, taught a variety of subjects (Reading, Math, Spanish, SAT prep, ACT prep, GMAT prep, LSAT prep, homework support and test taking strategies), and met with teachers and principals throughout the community. One of his clients, whose son attended the private school, worked at University of California Santa Barbara as the head admissions officer. She told Thomas that UCSB receives so many qualified applicants that the primary criterion for admissions is the admission essay. |
